Against all the odds January has been a phenomenally busy month.

While Lockdown 3.0 seems to have floored most people we have seen an unbelievable level of inquiries with new registrations running at more than 100 a week – that’s more than 500 people wanting to find a new home in Manchester this month.

Some of this is churn as people move between buildings for various reasons but the vast majority are new inquiries.

We have completed 31 new lettings across the city this month and taken sales 13 reservations. Launching new schemes like Castle Wharf right now may not seem ideal but there’s been lots of interest and a number of significant sales, including one of the 19th floor penthouses to a local buyer.

And full praise to the Reside team who are managing to do this while still strictly following the safety rules brought in to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

So, all viewings are by appointment only and restricted to people from one-household, we consciously sanitise not just hands but all surfaces that may have been touched and we do not do viewings where properties are occupied.

The high quality of online information about properties is helping people get a good idea before the actual viewing but it’s also been noticeable what a difference a phone call can make – finding out exactly what people want and answering questions in a ten-minute call rather than a day of e-mails to and fro.
